Revocation
1: Revocation means ‘’Cancellation’’.
Revocation offer means its withdrawal by offer.
2. An offer may be revoked at any time before the
offered accept it.
3. Revocation of an offer after acceptance will be
ineffective. It must be dispatch of the letter communicated before the.
Modes of Revocation:
1. By communication of notice:
An
offer may be revoked by offer or by giving a notice of revocation of the other
party before it is accepted. Notice of revocation will take effect only when it
comes to the knowledge of the offeree.
For example. Muhammad Ali offer his
house to Waleed for 100000. Before Waleed accepted the offer Ali withdrew his
offer by informing Waleed. There will be no contract as the offer has been
revoked before its acceptance.
2. By lapse of Time:
If
time is prescribed for acceptance, the offer get revoked by non-acceptance within
that time. If no time is fixed, the offer lapses by the expiry of a reasonable
time.
For Example: Ali applied for shares 1st
June. But shares were allotted on 1st November. Ali therefore
refuses to take the shares.
3. By death of insanity of the offeror:
An offer is revoked by the death or insanity if the offeror, If the fact of his
death or insanity of the offeror. If the fact of his death or insanity comes to
the knowledge of the acceptor before acceptance.
4. By counter offer:
An offer is revoked if a counter offer is
made to it.
For example: Aqib offer to sell her
house to Asim for 10 Lac. Asim counter offer 4Lac, later even if Asim is ready
to pay 5 Lac, The offer is terminates.
According to the 1876 Act of Pakistan

Revocation of proposals and acceptances.
A proposal may be revoked at any time before the
communication of its acceptance is complete as against the proper, but not
afterwards. An acceptance may be revoked at any time before the communication
of the acceptance is complete as against the acceptor, but afterwards,
A: Proposes, by a letter sent by post, to sell
his house to B. B accepts the proposal by a letter sent by post. A may revoke
the proposal at any time before or at the moment when B posts his letter of
acceptance, but not afterwards,
B: May revoke his acceptance at any time before or at the moment when the letter
communicating it reaches A, but not afterwards.
